I Tried the Vampire Facial

I Tried the Vampire Facial

Those who know me know that I am an absolute nut about skincare. I am extremely particular about what I put in my body because I believe it effects my skin and about skincare. One thing I never skimp on is my monthly facial and I love trying different kinds that come highly recommended. This weekend, I had the opportunity to try the highly acclaimed Vampire Facial and I am absolutely thrilled with the results. Most of you have heard of the Vampire Facial thanks to Kim Kardashian’s mysterious Instagram post. Yes, it got a lot of criticism, but upon reading about how it is done and its benefits, I just had to try it. The Vampire Facial utilizes a tool call a Dermapen containing several  acupuncture-sized needles that get injected into your face. The Vampire Facial uses platelet-rich plasma taken from the patient’s own blood. The platelets stimulate (more like speeds up times ten) collagen and elastin growth. The procedure began with the basics- cleansing, exfoliation, and toning- before beginning the procedure. Don’t let the misleading name fool you, it was virtually painless. It felt like my skin was being completely rejuvenated and renewed and now that it’s been a few days, I know that it has been. My skin has never looked so silky smooth and gorgeous. I haven’t worn a stitch of makeup for the last few days because it makes me sad to cover it up; that, and there is honestly no need to. I was at a friends birthday party over the weekend and was approached by a woman I had never met who told me that my skin looked flawless. She was curious to know which foundation I used and was beyond surprised when I told her that the only makeup I had on my face was  just a dab of translucent powder. I am so excited to see how my skin looks as the days go on because the results are still settling in and I will be sure to post an update then. Have you ever tried the Vampire Facial? How to Maintain Your Hair While You Sleep

How to Maintain Your Hair While You Sleep

Happy November! I honestly cannot believe how quickly this year has flown by; with the blink of an eye, the holiday season is already upon us. It seems that time has, in actuality, started to speed up which got me thinking how valuable time is and this naturally lead me to how taking too long to style your hair is a nuisance (everything leads back to hair for me- what can I say? I love what I do). Among one of my pet peeves is when you style your hair for the next day right before you go to sleep hoping that it will save you time in the morning. As you may know all too well, this tactic hardly goes as planned. In the interest of saving time (pun intended), I have put together a list that may help you preserve your hard styling work in your slumber — or at least make it easier to style the next morning: Don’t sleep with wet hair: Sleeping with wet hair makes your hair prone to frizz and breakage which makes styling a nightmare. By sleeping with your hair wet you are, without a doubt, adding additional style time to your morning. Elastic bands are a no-no: The elastic will put a dent in your freshly blowdried hair which, even when flat-ironed, often does not regain the original form intended. It may also have the affect of adding volume to the bottom of the hair and flattening the top (basically the opposite of what you want). Use a soft scrunchie in place of the elastic bands for more favorable results. Use a silk or satin pillowcase: These materials are far gentler on your hair and will help prevent breakage unlike traditional pillows which exacerbate breakage. As an alternative you can also wrap your hair in a silk or satin scarf before you go to sleep. Brush your hair before you sleep: Marcia Brady was on to something- brushing your hair after a long day and lots of product will make help maintain hair health, diminish breakage, and keep your hair from being an absolute styling nightmare in the morning. Try these techniques and let me know how they work for you in the comments below! Renee Taglia is located in a Beverly Hills California. Glitter Roots for Halloween!

Glitter Roots for Halloween!

Halloween is right around the corner and, if you’re anything like me, you are scrambling to put together you last-minute (yet totally fabulous) costume. I’ve discovered the element that can bring your Halloween costume together perfectly- glitter roots. Glitter roots was an instant hit when photos started perking up on Instagram last December and it quickly became one of my favorite trends of last year. So when I started thinking about Halloween costumes this year, I realized that anything could be achieved if the correct glitter root is in place. Below are three different Halloween costumes you can create incorporating glitter roots. Cleopatra: Nothing better than choosing a queen/world-class seductress as your alter ego for the night. The Queen of the Nile is surprisingly easy to recreate. First things first, this requires hair parted down the middle with gold glitter roots through the center part. I recommend keeping your hair stick-straight and adding jewels to the tips to make it look authentic. As for the outfit, I would go with a gold bodysuit (like this one). Throw on a few pieces of gold jewelry and emulate her makeup and, voila, you are good to go. Cruella de Vil: One of my absolute favorite Disney villains because of her eccentric hair, Cruella requires a silvery-white glitter root parted to the side (best if you have dark hair). Add to it some long red gloves, a faux-fur coat, and a little black dress . Unicorn: This little piece of magic is always a really fun costume to put together because of how creative you can get with it. I would recommend adding a touch of temporary color with the glitter root of your choice (I love this one, for example). Make sure to use shimmer and glitter around your eyes and in your makeup as well (my favorite shimmer stick is Watts Up by Benefit, followed by High Beam also by Benefit) and a pop of color on the lips. You can also get creative with your outfit by incorporating color or sticking to silver and white. Halloween Hair Tips

Halloween Hair Tips

Sixteen days left until your Instagram feed explodes with the amazing photographic evidence of possibly the best holiday of the year – of course, I am talking about Halloween. There are so many reasons why I love Halloween, but reason number one is that, as a Master Hair Colorist, I am a fan of transformation. I love when people play with their look and aren’t afraid to take risks. One of the biggest factors in changing your look starts with your hair; this can make or break your Halloween costume. For example, you can put on the the most fabulous fire-engine red sequin gown with the highest slit known to man, but, unless you’ve got the hair to match, you are no Jessica Rabbit. This can be tricky because most people see changing their hair style or color as a permanent change, but it doesn’t have to be. Below are my recommendations for the easiest methods to change up your hair for Halloween without the commitment. Temporary Hair Color: Yes, there is such a thing and there are actually a variety of methods you can take. The first is to book appointment with a hair colorist (I do this service, please e-mail me to book) who works with temporary color. The temporary color that I use is non-toxic, organic, and disappears completely after a few washes. Another option is hair paint which comes in a mascara-like tube with a mascara-like brush. You pull the color onto your hair with the brush and let it dry. The color should disappear after one rinse. Hair Extension Clip-in’s: I love a great set of clip-in’s because you can create any hairstyle you want by placing the clips in the appropriate places. I recommend teasing the hair at the root and applying a light hold hairspray to ensure that the clip will be secure. If it is your first time wearing hair extensions, it may take a minute to get used to, but by the middle of the night you’ll forget you even have them in. After the evening’s festivities gently take them out and brush your hair gently to avoid breakage. Wigs: Wigs are potentially the most drastic hairstyle change because of all the funky kinds you can buy. Blame it on my love of film noir, but I love having a few high-quality wigs on hand to turn myself into one of my beloved femme-fatale’s. If you have the opportunity, I recommend purchasing a high-quality wig because they look more natural and you can use them for years to come. What are you going to be this Halloween? Inphenom: The Best Hair Product Line You’ve Never Heard Of

Inphenom: The Best Hair Product Line You’ve Never Heard Of

As a Master Hair Colorist, I have the pleasure of having access to many different product lines and hair products. While I love some of the products from the hair product lines that are pretty much household names, I am also lucky enough to know that some of the best products hail from lines that you’ve probably never heard of. It’s hard to pick between these under-the-radar lines, but my absolute favorite is called Inphenom. Perhaps there is no product line in the world that I love as much as Inphenom and if you are my client you’ve definitely heard me singing its praises. This is a Japanese brand that offers the highest quality hair-care. All the products are incredibly lightweight and leave you with sleek, shiny, easy-to-manage results. I honestly believe that Inphenom speaks for itself, you have to try it, sit back and let it work its magic, and I guarantee that you will be amazed. Every single product in this line is amazing, but if I absolutely had to a pick a favorite it would have to be the Inphenom Spray Mist. This leave-in is light-weight so it will not weigh you hair down, it’s an amazing de-tangler, and will leave your locks feeling silky and shiny until your next wash. I am an avid fan of Inphemon products, so I am naturally excited to announce that I am offering the Inphenom 5-Step Treatment by appointment for a limited time special of only $60. This is an exclusive in-salon only deep-conditioning treatment that will rehydrated your locks after months of sun, salt water, and chlorine exposure.
