How to Make Your Blowout Last

How to Make Your Blowout Last

Nothing has quite the power to make you feel like a bonafide million bucks like a killer blowout. It’s the one little detail that (when set in place just right) can completely transform your day. Below are my tips to help prolong the lifespan of that beautiful blowout just a bit longer. Easy on the products: A lot of product weighs your hair down and the buildup will require you to wash your hair sooner rather than later. My recommendation is to use a light weight de-tangler and leave-in hair conditioner, followed by a light weight shine mist (my favorite is Wella EIMI Glam Mist). These lighter weight products provide your hair the nourishment it needs without the unnecessary burden on your locks. The two rules for sleep: Instead of tying your hair with an elastic band, twist it and pin it atop your head. This tactic will allow you to avoid frizz from your pillow and it will prevent your hair from tangling. Another great tip is to avoid tangling is switch your pillow cases with silk ones- this is a very helpful trick that I learned years ago. For a more cost effective alternative you can gather your hair and tie a silk scarf around it. The two rules for showers: To prolong the lifetime of your blowout keep the shower temperature a little lower and the bathroom fan on while you shower; This will help prevent the steam from frizzing up your hair. Also, as unsexy as this may sound, a shower cap works wonders for keeping your hair protected. Dry shampoo: Dry shampoo truly is our best friend. Once you notice that your hair is beginning to oil up, spray a bit on the roots. Not only does dry shampoo make you look like you just washed your hair, but it also adds a great amount of volume. Add in some curl: As the days go by and kinks start to settle into your not-so-clean hair, I recommend adding some curl with a curling iron. The added texture will help prolong the style so you can wear it out for another day or two. Do you need a recommendation for how to make a blow dry last for your specific hair type?
