The Master Colorist Experience: Art Basel Miami
This was my first time attending Art Basel in Miami. From the fantastic people watching to the exclusive lineup of events, it was enthralling and inspiring to be surrounded by so much culture. Oh yes, and of course, there was plenty of ART.
Some consider the first week of December to be the most important week in Miami. The Art Basel Miami event is a whirlwind of color, emotion and expression of over 280 of the world’s leading galleries and over 4000 artists. The two cities, Miami and Miami Beach, are now home to more than 20 pop-up art festivals.
As you might imagine, taking in all of the paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs and films at Art Basel can feel slightly overwhelming. But the more you take in, the more moving and memorable the experience.
I was really blown away by the video art. More and more art was 3 dimensional and responsive to touch. Here are a few of my favorite pieces from the show:
