My New Oasis – I Moved to a Private Hair Salon!!!

My New Oasis – I Moved to a Private Hair Salon!!!

For the entirety of my career as a Master Hair Colorist, I’ve worked at various high-end salons, most recently Gavert-Atelier in Beverly Hills. As a client-centric hair colorist, it is always my mission to optimize my client’s experience when she/he is in my chair; that’s why at the end of 2015 I made the decision to leave Gavert-Atelier and opening up shop in a private hair salon. This move has proven to be one of the best decisions I have made! Nestled in the heart of Beverly Hills is my gorgeous oasis. The new studio is complete with two private rooms so that my busy clients can maintain a low-key vibe as they go in and out. I wanted to create a place of optimum luxury for them, but also have it be a place where they can be at ease. They do not have to feel the pressure to dress up simply to come to the hair salon. Instead, they can completely relax and be fully taken care of in their time at the salon. Many of my clients have insanely busy schedules, and as a traveling Master Hair Colorist and Wella Educator, it is often a challenge on both our ends to schedule appointments. At my private studio, I have the ability to take clients 24/7 so that their schedules are accommodated. Couple that with the ample parking, amazing lighting in the salon and top of the line products and you will understand why my clients and I have never felt more at home. Come in for a visit and see for yourself, e-mail me to schedule an appointment or get in touch via social media. I can’t wait to share this sanctuary with my clients, old and new. Color of the Year: Rose Quartz & Serenity

Color of the Year: Rose Quartz & Serenity

Every year designers, retailers and creatives all over the world look forward to the unveiling of the new Pantone Color of the Year. When in comes to color in 2016, we can expect to look forward to a kaleidoscope of pastel hues featuring the two new stars of the color show: Rose Quartz and Serenity. Never before has a duo of colors been released as the “color of the year.” Some are noting that the two colors are a nod to gender equality. In Pantone’s press release it stated, “Globally, we are experiencing gender blur as it relates to fashion, which has in turn impacted color trends throughout all other areas of design. This more unilateral approach to color is coinciding with societal movements toward gender equality and fluidity.” As Pantone’s Executive Director states below, the two colors are about connection, order and peace. Color is the perfect mirror for the face of our society; and by the looks of this reflection, 2016 will be a harmonious, lighthearted, comforting year.  Let’s take a look at the past 10 years of Pantone Color of the Year releases. Here’s my personal ode to the new Pantone Colors of the Year, Rose Quartz and Serenity. I can’t wait to see what creative new products and styles will come out of these dignified yet delicate colors. Cheers to a colorful 2016! Renee Taglia is located in a Beverly Hills California. Contact her here for a consultation on how to discover (and keep) your perfect color. 3 Ways To Maintain Your Hair When You Travel

3 Ways To Maintain Your Hair When You Travel

Between now and 2016, holiday travel will be trending on more than just our social media feeds!  Are you going home for the holidays? Making a getaway to a snowy mountain resort or tropical island paradise? Whether you’re on board a train, plane or automobile this season, here are a few tips on how to make sure your hair stays fabulous! Never Pack Full Sized Hair Products: It’s not a wise idea to bring full sized hair products on an airplane. The air compression compromises the product. Look for the travel sized version of your favorite Shampoo, Conditioner and Leave-In Conditioner, and if they’re not available, your nearest drug store will almost always carry empty 2 oz bottles that are perfect for travel. You can use them for makeup too! Avoid headrest germs: I definitely recommend wearing a hat or hoodie when traveling on public transport. Planes are usually cleaned at lightening speeds to accommodate busy holiday travel. The head rests host many germs that will attach to your hair, and a hat or hoodie acts as a barrier to these germs. There’s no doubt anyone’s hair would be flat after leaning on a headrest for hours on end. While a hat or a hoodie will protect your hair from germs, they’re not doing anything for your blow out!  To keep your look fresh during/after a flight, my suggestion for girls with long hair is to flip your hair upside down and create a sleek bun; but don’t set it too tight in order to avoid dents in your hair from the elastic. For the short haired ladies, bring a little spray bottle and add some moisture to your hair to eliminate flatness. Keep it up!  When you’re lugging your bags through the airport, the last thing you want is to have your hair pulled by a heavy strap. Make it easy on yourself and put your hair in a bun or pony tail to avoid pain full pulls. **The best way to prepare for a trip is to well, prepare! I recommend washing and conditioning your hair the night before to prevent tangles. I also recommend using a treatment spray, like Wella Color Preserve Detangler and Leave In Conditioner, and always bring a mini hairbrush or comb to smooth out those plane frizzies! I can’t wait to see your holiday posts! Be sure to follow me @ReneeTaglia on instagram to see more of mine! Happy holidays to you all <3 Thanks for reading, and bon voyage! The Weather & Your Hair Color: Vegas Edition

The Weather & Your Hair Color: Vegas Edition

The life of a Wella Educator is an ongoing adventure. Constantly traveling to different cities keeps me in tune with changing trends, seasons and varying details that ultimately influence our hair! My latest trip to Vegas proved to be not only a teaching, but a learning experience. The first steps I took outside in Vegas I was literally blown away at the out of control winter and cold temperatures. This time of year is usually a bit chilly in Vegas, but nonetheless, it was shocking!   I made my way to Salon Bellagio to teach my first class. The lobby was decorated adorably with Lights and Thanksgiving Decor.  I always love teaching at the salon. My second class was at Canyon Falls Salon. The stylists are super talented, and the salon has the only walk-in extentions Hair Salon in the entire state. Amazing!   From merely people watching from the airport arrival and departure I noticed an over whelming number of women walking around with extremely brassy hair, which makes total sense due to the bright sun shine during the day. Bottom line: wind and sun have harsh effects on your hair; the sun inroads the outer cuticular layer and the wind absorbs all of the natural oils your hair produces. My prescription for Vegas, as crazy as it sounds, hats are an absolute must all year round for the ultimate protection again wind and sun effects.   On that note, hats off to Vegas! Cannot wait to go back!   Renee Taglia is located in a Beverly Hills California. Contact her here for a consultation on how to discover (and keep) your perfect color. New Obsession: Rainbow Roots

New Obsession: Rainbow Roots

Somewhere over the rainbow lies show stopping hair. We have all seen the very fashionable tones throughout the hair and have been overcome with passion for Pastels, Mint Green hair, Rose Gold hair, Ronze hair, Multicolored hair, and more, but now the color spotlight is shining on the Roots! This new application technique applies these fashion pigments to about the first half inch to two inches at the root area only, depending on the length of the hair. Hair color is in a wonderfully unique time right now.  A time when even the most conservative are looking to add fun pops of hair color.  Never before have we seen attorneys, business men and women, and even doctors wearing more loud and colorful tones. The Rainbow Roots trend is the perfect look for anyone who wants a taste of the technicolor hair trend, but doesn’t want to commit to a full head of rainbow hair. Rainbow Roots are not only extremely instructing to the eye, that are completely customizable to the individual.  The Rainbow tones placed at the roots can range from extremely saturated colors to soft pastel tones, depending on the clients preference. In the photos below, I worked with two different models to demonstrate two different takes on the Rainbow Roots trend: a more subdued look and a stronger, more technicolor version. I used all Wella products including Wella Magma /65, /44, Clear, Limoncello and Wella Instamatics Ocean Storm, Muted Mauve. Enjoy!     Renee Taglia is located in a Beverly Hills California. Contact her here for a consultation on how to discover (and keep) your perfect color. How to Detox Your Hair: The Importance of A Clean Scalp

How to Detox Your Hair: The Importance of A Clean Scalp

“Detox” is a buzzword among many celebrities, nutritionists and stylists. You may already know about detoxing your body, but did you know that it’s equally important to detox your hair too? Hair detoxing can be one of the most overlooked processes of your beauty regime. Removing toxins from your hair/body helps build your immune system and can prove to be very therapeutic! As a Master Hair Colorist I recommend detoxing your hair every 3 months for a healthy scalp and hair. It is important to detox in order remove buildup from over the counter products that damage your hair, and of course, to keep your color beautiful. There are many harmful toxins in conventional hair products that have even been linked to health problems, so naturally, cleansing your hair is in your best (and most beautiful) interest. Here are my Master Colorist tips on how to detox your hair: Healthy hair starts with a healthy scalp, and just like the pores on your face, the pores of your scalp can become clogged with dirt, oil and product buildup. In the business of hair coloring, I have experimented with many products, but my favorite by far is the Wella Luxe Oil Shampoo. Take a generous amount of shampoo and start at the nape of your neck (hair in that area tends to be the most oily) and work your way up. More tips: 1) Try a moisturizing treatment at least once a week. 2) Lay off the heat – curling irons, straighteners and blow dryers damage and weaken your hair. 3) Go deep with a keratin treatment. Check out my blog on Three Benefits of the Keratin Hair Treatment for more info! http://bit.ly/1LSmB60 Renee Taglia is located in a Beverly Hills California. Contact her here for a consultation on how to discover (and keep) your perfect color. Black Hair Color: Do or Don’t?

Black Hair Color: Do or Don’t?

As a Master Hair Colorist, one of my absolute favorite hair colors to do for my clients is black. Black hair color can range from very intense to relatively demure, but one thing is certain: It is a commitment. If you’ve ever had your hair dyed black then you know what I am talking about. It truly is difficult to switch for black hair color to another hair color, the process takes time, and you need to go to a hair colorist who understands how to take hair color away from black without damaging the hair. These are all factors that need to be taken into consideration before you decide to jump off the deep end and dye your hair color black. Remember, the health of your hair is what’s most important, so if you are an individual who likes to change it up very frequently then black hair color may not be the best choice for you. However, for those who are ready to make that commitment, there are some fabulous factors to the raven hue as well. Below I have listed my favorite aspects of black hair color:   1.Besides being fierce and undoubtedly sexy, black hair color heightens your facial features by making them pop. Black hair color works to bring out the subtle inflections of lightness in your eyes making them look more beautiful than ever (this applies for all eye colors, dark and light). 2. Black hair color does a great job of camouflaging hair damage. Dyeing your hair darker automatically gives your hair a glossy, shiny appearance. Strangely, this benefit can also contribute to your hair actually becoming healthier. Think about it: If your hair already has a glossy appearance, then you spend less time trying to make your hair look that way. For most of us this means less heat styling which is always a good thing. 3. Black hair color is versatile because it ranges from cool to warm tones. You can go blue black which is traditionally icier in appearance or you can opt for a chocolate-rich version like my model, Lucia Porcayo (featured above). Therefore, there is absolutely a way to make black hair perfectly compliment the undertones in your eyes and skin. My Ronze Exclusive for The Colorist is Out!

My Ronze Exclusive for The Colorist is Out!

On Monday, one of my major goals as a Master Hair Colorist came to fruition: My exclusive was featured in The Colorist. For those of you who don’t know, I have been a hair colorist (and after living and breathing the craft, a Master Hair Colorist) for over fourteen years. Throughout that time one of the publications that I read (and still read) to inspire me and keep me in-the-know was The Colorist, so clearly this is a very special moment for me. This article extremely fun to do because there is a video component included (I love doing video). Together with The Colorist and my incredible team of models and camera geniuses we put together something very special- check it out here. You can also purchase the hard-copy where you will see my article on page 18. The article is centered around one of my absolute favorite trends for Fall/Winter: Ronze. Now that the weather is sufficiently chilly it may inspire you to take the leap and try the color out for yourself. Below, I put together a quick list of reasons why this Ronze has so much staying power well into the merriest season of all.   As a Master Hair Colorist what makes a shade a winner is its versatility. Ronze is and extremely versatile shade, it can work on literally everyone. Ronze is the perfect shade for this season because it compliments the cold weather so well. It is a fresh take on the darker Fall/Winter colors that we typically see during this time of year. Ronze is daring yet still oh-so-elegant! There are very few colors that satisfy both criteria and Ronze is one of them. In my years as a Master Hair Colorist, I have known this to be a major challenge for many of my clients and Ronze is a solution that is anything but basic. Ronze is not a very saturated tone which means that as it starts to fade out it still maintains integrity and looks natural. As a Master Hair Colorist I have essentially trained myself to be extremely sensitive to recognizing nuance in color. I am always seeking to translate inspiration in my environment into gorgeous shades of hair color. My inspiration for the various formulations of Ronze that I mix for my clients come directly for the gorgeous sunsets we have in Southern California.
